So, Gonzaga and Duke are out?! Hmm, kinda makes that whole Redick vs. Morrison for player of the year a moot point. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, well…go back under your non-sports rock. And for some more sports…sort of. Apparently, the Yankees are out for bloodagainst the guy who makes the Yankee-Hater apparel. But he’s not backing down. His company, and I swear I’m not making this up, is called Rebel Forces LLC. Can you just hear the bailiff now? “Case # TK-421, Rebel Forces LLC v. ‘The Evil Empire’…all rise”. I love it.

Speaking of the Boston Red Sox indirectly, Opening Day is only 10 days away. Are you excited?

And since this has been a largely sports related post anyway, if you’ve got nothing better to do tomorrow and you haven’t been down to the Cave Hill Cemetery area lately…come watch me run. I’ll be running the Rodes City Run tomorrow. There’s a map in the paper today so you can see where we’ll be running. It starts at 8:30 a.m., so don’t be late. I figure it will take me a little over an hour to run.

Now…THE FRIDAY FIVE: Today, you’ll be vying for a copy of the soundtrack “The Wrong Box” with music by John Barry. I don’t know how rare this is, and you could probably buy a cd, but why would you? You now have a chance to win. First person to post their FF entry in the forum wins.

If you…

  1. …owned a restaurant, what kind of food would you serve? Mmm, there would definitely be Thai on the menu, but I think it would be one of those restaurants with just about anything on the menu. From chicken fried steak to cedar-plank grilled salmon, from 5-alarm chili to beef stroganoff, from whipped garlic potatoes to steamed vegetables.
  2. …owned a small store, what kind of merchandise would you sell? It would have to be a book store, with maybe some vintage toys and vinyl in back. Oooh…and it would have one of those old time listening stations in the back, where you could take the record in and listen to it…like a phone booth almost. Yeah. And there would be comfortable chairs everywhere for people to just come in and relax.
  3. …wrote a book, what genre would it be? It would most likely be fiction. One of those books that everybody takes to the beach, or has by their bedside. Not crappy harlequin romance you understand. Real good storyline drama.
  4. …ran a school, what would you teach? Ugh, I can’t imagine running a school. I think I’d teach geography though. I’m really enjoying it and we had a map-making session that I truly enjoyed yesterday.
  5. …recorded an album, what kind of music would be on it? I think it would be sort of pop with the occasional blues thrown in. You know, happy “workout” music with a couple of rainy day tunes for those Saturday afternoons.

So…there it is, the Friday Five. Be the first, win a cd. Also, I’m instituting a one cd winner a month policy, so that if you’re a late riser, you can probably still get in on the action.

See you in the funny papers!
