Your next president

I know I haven’t written much lately, aside from the trip to Italy.  Truth is, I haven’t had a lot to say.  The Red Sox are doing okay, school has ended, and I’ve been soaking up the joy of my graduation gifts.  I now can’t decide whether or not to take my GPS unit on a long bike ride and then spend the rest of the day in the hammock, or to spend the day playing Mario Kart Wii in the rocking chair.  Decisions, decisions!  I’m practically retired on the weekends.

Anyway, speaking of decisions…congratulations to Mr. Barack Obama on his impending Democratic nomination.  Now, if I may for a moment, I would like to urge Mr. Obama not to pick Mrs. Clinton as a running mate.  I think that there’s simply too much enmity to engage that sort of ticket.  He should pick someone with a much lower profile to run with him.  But, I’ll say this, he’s bound to beat Mr. McCain because if McCain is chosen, we’re going to have at least 4 more years identical to the last eight…and surely the intelligent, well-informed, and delightfully good-looking American public can not desire more of the same.

That said, my mind is made up.  I gave my donation to the Obama campaign on May 29.  I did not do this lightly because I don’t like to part with money for intangible concepts.  When I pay cash, I expect something in return.  However, I believe in Obama.  I believe in his ideas, I believe in his spirit, and I believe in his ability to work for change in this country and the world.  And, I urge you to do the same.

In other news, I attempted to become a vegetarian for the good of myself and the earth.  However, I really like food and so I’ve decided that I will eat locally grown food as much as possible in order to make some sort of difference.

See you in the funny papers!
